Hawaiian food fad is a bad fad.

Ooooh, look at this gadget:

Vintage Wesson mayonnaise jar

It’s a mayonnaise-making jar produced by Wesson from the 1920s & 1930s.  The recipe is embossed right on the glass.  How freakin’ handy!  Why don’t they produce these babies at one of those hoity toity kitchen supply stores like Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table?  It’s gorgeous!  I discovered it when searching for Hawaiian macaroni salad recipes and surprise surprise, the gist is basically macaroni plus lots of mayonaise.  Who would’ve guessed?  Still craving loco moco even after that ginormous heaping I had at breakfast last weekend, we ordered takeout from Hukilau down the street in Japantown.  Unfortunately, it was after 10 pm and they had some special late night menu, which did not have loco moco, but did have some entrees we got with scoops of mac salad.  It was rather delish, but if I keep having these Hawaiian food cravings, I’m going to get so much more out of shape than I already am.  Off to make loco moco!
