Spaghetti and meatballs!

I’ve never made meatballs.  They seemed too time consuming or too complicated, plus I don’t really like handling raw ground meat much, so I always bought frozen ones, and they always sucked.  So I decided to try and make some!

MEATBALLS
1.5 lbs ground turkey
0.5 lbs ground sirloin
1 onion, finely chopped (I only had half an onion and added two shallots)
1 tsp. paprika
dashes of cinnamon, oregano, rosemary, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and kosher salt
1 egg

Mix it up.  With hands or a fork.  Scoop into 2 in. diameter balls and place on foil-lined baking sheet.  Broil 20 minutes, turning once.

I really like Marcella Hazan’s tomato sauce recipe and I adjust to taste by adding some basil and other herbs.  I’ve done this recipe using both San Marzano tomatoes and regular plum tomatoes, and I think the San Marzano version was way better in taste.I usually serve this sauce with Trader Joe’s lemon pepper pappardelle, but since I had meatballs, it had to go with spaghetti!
